CHARACTER NAME: Madoka Kaname
SERIES/BACKGROUND: Anime wiki plus Madoka's page specifically. Also the timeline page because oh my god this show/series!!
AGE: 14
APPEARANCE: Regular Madoka, Magical girl Madoka, and Goddess Madoka. But even after being Goddess Madoka she then goes right back to regular/magical girl Madoka, so whatevs.

PERSONALITY: At her core, Madoka is an extremely caring and gentle girl. She's very innocent, and openly treasures her friends and family. She worries for anyone's wellbeing, and doesn't think too highly of herself.

Madoka, at the beginning of the series, feels that she's a very ordinary girl. She doodles during class, worries about wearing hair ribbons that are 'too flashy,' and remarks how nice it must be to receive a love letter or two like her friend does. So - even though she is a very innocent girl, Madoka isn't some completely clueless pure angel. She might be naive, but she jokes around with her friends and likes when they tease her, and in her own way (a quiet kind of way haha) she will tease them back. She even says she's excited to get old enough to get drunk with her mom! (... which... kind of shows her innocence in itself, since she intends to ~*~get drunk~*~ with her family.) Although she seems easily exhausted by her own friends, like I said, she really does love them, and loves to be around them.

She spends much of the series in tears over their fates, basically, because Puella Magi Madoka Magica is about cute girls being broken horribly. :(

Anyway, Madoka does feel she's nothing special at first. She says she has no particular strengths or talents, and wishes she could be more helpful to everyone around her. She's a generally unsure girl, who prefers to think things over and gather as many opinions as she can before acting. When she's given the choice to become a Puella Magi, she thinks about it for a very long time, asks everyone around her lots of questions - albeit coded since they shouldn't know about magical girls and somesuch. She also doesn't want to make a wish that she'll regret, which is why it says a lot that she almost wishes... to be a magical girl just so she can help people.

By the end of the series, Madoka learns of the many loops of time Homura has gone through, and so she's, in a way, been through a lot. Although it's almost instantaneous, she matures quite a bit, and becomes much more confident when she ascends to... Being a goddess.

Madoka still has her core personality - she's very friendly, quiet by nature, and a bit shy. She's less easily frightened now, but when she is scared, she will fight through it to protect people. She even protects a bunch of people from a witch's kiss before becoming a magical girl.

Being a magical girl is what gave Madoka confidence. In the timeloops we're shown where Homura didn't delay the process, Madoka seems outgoing and upbeat, whereas in the loops where she hasn't made that decision, she hesitates a lot more, and even seems more nervous with strangers.

ABILITIES: Madoka actually gains omnipresence within her canon, essentially using all the misfortune that Homura has helped surround her being and using it to wish herself into godhood. She becomes a 'concept' rather than a person, and although she can't undo the tragic end to being a magical girl - probably becoming isolated before definitely dying - she CAN stop the magical girls from becoming the witches they fight. She can sort of... Drain away despair? Though that probably wouldn't work the same on regular people, haha.

Aside from that, she has a magic bow and arrow! And... Is one of the strongest magical girls ever!! Woo!!

POSSESSIONS: Her Soul Gem is basically it. It contains her weapon and magical girl outfit and all that.

As a God.
REPRESENTATION: MADOKA REPRESENTS HOPE!!!!! AND THE IDEA THAT SOMEONE OUT THERE IS FIGHTING FOR YOU, EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEE IT!!!! sorry for caps and exclamation marks I was just very excited.

But yes that is basically the message of her ascension into goddess...hood... in canon. Generally, she represents a very simple message of not giving into despair, and of caring for others. They see her as someone who fights for others, and are to take comfort in that, as well as follow the lead and protect each other.

FOLLOWERS: Madoka's followers have a strong sense of community, and tend to be very balanced in having different people do different things they are good at so as to benefit everyone! At the same time, this might stop them from progressing too much. They protect each other, but it's because they pour so much effort into caring for one another in their current state that they do not make much huge progress.

If anything, because of Madoka's tendency to think things through before acting, they have many philosophers and libraries reflecting their thoughts. But these things are rarely used to push progress. Madoka's followers aren't very competitive, basically... And they keep to themselves or else offer only nonviolent help...

PACIFISTS. PACIFISTS EVERYWHERE. And gardens, probs.

Because of Madoka's followers believing that someone is fighting for you, somewhere, even if you can't see them, they generally don't make very many statues of her. Goddess Madoka is accepted as her appearance, but it's not brought up very much among the people... Instead, they prefer to make (usually pink!!!) jewelry to represent her and remind them not to lose hope etc.

FIRST PERSON SAMPLE:

So I'm both here and there? I was kind of used to that before, but I didn't expect to come somewhere new.

Ehehe, it's not a bad place, though. Um, but it's a little bit strange having servants. I feel guilty every time they bring me something, a-and the food is great, but I wonder if I should keep myself on a diet? Probably not.

I guess I don't need to worry about looking too flashy, at least. It seems like being flashy is kind of my job here. And... Caring for my people. I actually really like that part. I think that I can be good at it, too, hehe.

But are you sure I can't dismiss the servants...?
